Furlanija: V objemu supercelic - 09/07/2007

eno reportažo objavim za uvod. Žal nimam časa, da bi šel prevajat...je spisana v angleščini, ker sem jo objavil že drugje... a mislim, da ne bo težko razumet Če pa je kako vprašanje, pa kar na dan z njim.

Na kratko... chase 9. julija v sosednjo južno Furlanijo, številne supercelice s točo do 5cm

Here we go with pictures and report from my chase into southern Friuli. We were discussing about this day for some time and as I expected, some pre-frontal convergence zones formed over the Veneto/Friuli plains in the mid-afternoon! In case of late storm initiation my target would be area around Pordenone and the second target for pre-frontal storms was Latisana. The juicy weather was forecasting itself already in the morning with strong Altocumulus castellanus forms all over the sky here in Carso...



When I finished work, storms already exploaded along the quite strong coastal convergence a bit northeast of Mestre and were firing up along this convergence towards south Friuli near Palmanova. It was time to go! I managed to take this photo from my home, amazing explosion towards Friuli...



Wish I would be able to leave my work before, I was a bit late when I came to Palmanova. I noticed things are not like normal cells, after seeing RS Udine 12z this wasn't surprising. Incredible supercell environment and supercells were forming down there. I continued towards west along A4 and thinking or exit at San Giorgio or going to Latisana...and there I made a mistake. I passed first exit and wanted to go close, straight to Latisana and try from there. But the storm was too fast...I was only 5km west of San Giorgio when there was no escape...supercell was coming too fast, people went crazy on the roads and blocked it! So I just parked car in a good spot and took some pictures...structure was simply spectacular for this place!

The shelf cloud and coming large hailstorm was insane, you could hear bombing hail about 500m coming towards me very fast.







Then the most unwanted thing while chasing happened...haistorm with large hail 4-5cm in dimaeter and bombing for about 10min all over, I got car damaged quite a lot. Surprisedly no window collapsed during the event. The A4 was covered with leaves and tree braches after the hailstorm, also some flash floods. After the massacre, I quicky went to Latisana and turned back towards Palmanova since supercells were still on going around there, I managed to came out of the rain again near Villesse and park there for some time.

I came just out of the supercell, was right under the mesocyclone where only hail ~3cm was falling, without any rain! This is the view over the meso and supercell structure above me...







The inflow into this mesocyclone was too sick, I've never seen such structure before...pretty weird stuff.











This supercell dissipated quite quickly and we got a nice view towards another strong supercell north of Palmanova towards Udine...



Only few minutes later amazing mesocyclone formed in front of that supercell, we had an amazing view over it! Such a classic structure of a supercell with pretty obvious inclinated rotating updraft tower, reminds me of USA chasing.





I waited some time there, this supercell went towards the Slovenian mountains and dissipated with its structure, but continued with very large hail over "Goriska Brda" area in Slovenia where a lot of damage was reported.

Then we drove towards Palmanova and going west on A4 again, I exit San Giorgio since I noticed another strong cell just west of there...



I continued along main road San Giorgio-Latisana west when we intercepted another forming cell...with pretty obvious inflow clouds..



Looking back over that strong cell west of San Giorgio...



Meanwhile a new strong supercell formed near Vicenza and was quicky moving towards Friuli...of course I decided to intercept it. I turned north towards Codroipo and already noticed strong updraft towers towards west with flanking line in the back...



When I was about 10km south of Codroipo, I was able to notice the structure of this supercell, just freakin' incredible! Another classic view like in the book.





I went a bit further north towards Codroipo to get a better view of this supercell before it hit us...such classic structure, inclinated updraft tower, rotating, huge anvil, shelf cloud...

I continued into Codroipo when the storm hit us, first with some quite large hail without rain again, diameter 2-3cm in the SSW side of Codroipo, the passage was pretty quick. Looking into the back of the overpassing storm...



When things finished, an amazing view over anvil at sunset!



I moved a bit closer to the storm towards Palmanova, just to get some more pics of convection at the edge...









While I was driving home, I passed one small shelf cloud near Villesse again...

This was really a great day, finally some spectacular supercell structure also here in Europe/Italy and not only in USA

Bom kar tle nekaj vprašal, a si imel letos kaj več sreče s tornadi v Ameriki. SI kakšnega ujel. Kolkr sem videl na tvoji spletni strani, ste se peljali čez mesto (se ne spomnim imena), ki ga je tornado praktično zradiral z obličja.

Jup, odlično je bilo...tokrat trije tornadi in supercelic za v anale En EF2 tornado 22.5., en EF0 23.5. in en EF2/EF3 multivortex tornado v noči na 24.5. Tisto zradirano mesto pa je Greensburg v Kansasu, tornado je bil 5.5. zvečer; prvi uradni EF5 po novi lestvici, max premer 2800m! V ZDA smo prišli 5.5. zvečer (odvisni smo žal od rezervacije let. karte), glavna dva dneva pa sta bila ravno 4. in 5.5. popoldne...

Nič pestrega ni bilo pričakovano, saj so bili pogoji le za močne nalive. V ZDA boljše letos...manj časa in več uspeha Bom probu kako reportažo spacat iz letošnjega leta...sam, da kaj časa najdem...
